Eight Haitian men are prepared to testify in U.S. Federal Court that Michael Geilenfeld, a former Catholic Brother and member of Mother Teresa’s Missionairies of Charity, and currently the Director of the St. Joseph’s Family of Orphanages in Port au Prince, Haiti, physically and sexually abused them when they were children living at the orphanage in Haiti in the care of Geilenfeld.

Plaintiffs Geilenfeld and Hearts with Haiti, a North Carolina based non profit that supports Geilenfeld’s orphanages, will do everything they can at the court ordered settlement conference on Monday to stop the case from going to trial in October.

Kendrick has instructed his attorneys to take the case directly to trial.

Kendrick wants no part of a settlement agreement.

In December 2011, Hearts with Haiti issued the following letter.

Two and 1/2 years have passed, the investigation is complete, yet Hearts with Haiti officials still won’t disclose the entire investigative report.

Here is a copy of a December 6, 2011 letter from the Executive Director of Hearts with Haiti:

From: Geoffrey Hamlyn [mailto:ghamlyn@heartswithhaiti.org]
Sent: Tuesday, December 06, 2011 2:27 PM
Subject: Response to Accusations

Dear Friends and Supporters of Hearts with Haiti and the St. Joseph Family,

On November 8th, 2011 the Board of Trustees of Hearts with Haiti voted unanimously to commission an independent and objective investigation of the allegations against Michael Geilenfeld and the St. Joseph Family.

Hearts with Haiti remains supportive of Michael and of the St. Joseph Family, and believes strongly that the St. Joseph Family homes are safe and positive places for children.

While this is our belief and our efforts to fund-raise and support the work continue, it is important to us that these charges be answered in a responsible manner.

The execution of this investigation will remain fully objective and independent.  Therefore, Hearts with Haiti will have no further comment on the matter until the Board has received the report, in which Hearts with Haiti will have no input.
In addition, Hearts with Haiti is aware that the United States government has also been investigating the allegations.  Hearts with Haiti and the St. Joseph Family will continue to cooperate with the authorities of the United States and Haiti.

Mr. Davis’s unauthorized use of the same mass distribution list used by the St. Joseph Family to send updates on the outstanding achievements of this ministry is unfortunate and disreputable.

Hearts with Haiti and the St. Joseph Family wish to apologize for compromising your contact information to such individuals.

Sincerely,

Geoffrey S. Hamlyn
Executive Director

IN JANUARY 2014, LUTHERAN MISSIONARY, REV. LARRY BOLLINGER, WAS SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS IN US FEDERAL PRISON FOR THE RAPE OF INNOCENT HAITIAN CHILDREN AT A SCHOOL NEAR PORT AU PRINCE.

CHILD PROTECTION ADVOCATES WANT TO KNOW WHAT MEASURES ARE BEING TAKEN BY OFFICIALS OF THE LAZARUS PROJECT, A U.S. BASED NON PROFIT (501)(c)(3), AND THE LUTHERAN CHURCH, TO PROVIDE MEDICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT AND SUPPORT TO THE HAITIAN CHILDREN WHO WERE SEXUALLY ABUSED.

WHAT SYSTEMS, POLICIES AND PROCEDURES TO PROTECT CHILDREN FROM ABUSE ARE IN PLACE AT THE LAZARUS PROJECT?

Rev. Larry Bollinger served as Executive Director of the Village of Hope, located near Port au Prince, from January 2004 to December 2009. It is horrifying to realize that this dangerous child molester had unlimited access to poor, orphaned and vulnerable, Haitan children for six years.

The Lazarus Project

The Lazarus Project is a grassroots effort of a growing number of individuals and congregations to be in ministry in Haiti. In the context of Jesus’ parable of the rich man and Lazarus it is a response to a modern Lazarus in the suffering poor of Haiti, lying on our doorstep begging to be fed with our crumbs. The Lazarus Project is supported by many churches and individuals in the United States from various Christian denominations and individuals with the support of the nonprofit umbrella of Food for the Poor(FFP). Since 1995, the Lazarus Project has supported the Village of Hope School and has expanded its ministry by supporting other worthy ministries which include Little Children of Jesus Home for Disabled Children and Grace Mission School and Orphanage.

Village of Hope is a school located in the countryside east of Port-au-Prince. Its eight buildings provide 17 classrooms, kitchen, dining hall, assembly hall, chapel, library, showers an toilets, vocational school facilities, clinic/health care office, offices and storage facilities for 640 children on 30 acres of land.

The Little Children of Jesus (LCJ) is an orphanage for over 100 disabled children. In Haiti, many of God’s children do not have the support of a family due to their disability.

Grace Mission School and Orphanage was founded by “Sister” Marie Major. After years in the United States, Marie felt the call of God to return to her homeland of Haiti to serve her people. Using her own funds, she established a combination church/school/orphanage in Bon Repos, a suburb of Port-au-Prince.

CHILD PROTECTION ADVOCATES WANT PRESIDENT OF A LUTHERAN SEMINARY IN OHIO TO PRODUCE EVIDENCE AND DOCUMENTS TO BACK UP HIS PUBLIC STATEMENTS THAT HAITI ORPHANAGE DIRECTOR IS “CLEARED AND EXONERATED OF ALL CHARGES” OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN HAITI.

ADVOCATES WANT PRESIDENT RICK BARGER TO PUT UP OR SHUT UP.

PROTECTING CHILDREN IS EVERYONE’S BUSINESS.

Rev. Dr. Rick Barger is President of Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Ohio and the Haitian Timoun Foundation (HTF), headquartered in Suwanee, GA.

Here’s what Rev. Barger said in a December 2011 letter:

“We have long been aware of the 20 year accusations against Michael Geilenfeld. We are also aware that there has not been one investigation that failed to clear him of all charges. Believing in the fine work of the Saint Joseph’s Family, we have continued to fund them over the years; however, because of the current investigation we have suspended fundraising efforts for them pending a clean exoneration of all charges.”

HTF National Youth Servant Trip

June 27 – July 6, 2014

Haitian Timoun Foundation Haiti Youth Servant Trip 2014Eight Epiphany youth ages high school (current freshmen) through college and four adult guides will serve alongside teams from HTF-partner churches in Colorado, Nebraska, Texas, and Arizona as well as with five college students in the Haitian Education and Leadership Program (HELP). This nationwide HTF team will bring summer camps to children in Jacmel Haiti (at the Trinity House site) and to the children of Wings of Hope in Fermathe.
The 2014 camp in Jacmel, which will serve some 350 children, will be the fourth annual session; we are committed to returning every year to let these ultra-poor children know that they are not forgetten. The camp also teaches useful life skills — like personal hygiene — and provides activities that help the children deepen their faith. Each child receives two meals each day, a real blessing for many who may only get to eat a few times each week and who are seriously malnourished.

Our Epiphany team will raise $13,000 in support of the camp.   Here’s how you can help:

Good Friday Fish Fry, April 18, 5:30 PM

Easter Morning Pancake Breakfast, April 20, serving 8:30 – 10:30

Cookout Lunch, Sunday, May 4, Noon (prior to the Spring Missional Gathering)

Car Wash, Sunday, June 1, after 8:30 and 11:00 worship service

You also can make a donation. Make checks payable to Epiphany, noting “Summer 2014 Haiti Servant Trip” in the memo section. Place your check in the offering plate on Sunday or mail to: Epiphany Lutheran Church, 1350 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Suwanee, GA 30024.

Should U.S. District Court Judge John Woodcock recuse himself from the federal lawsuit,
Hearts with Haiti and Michael Geilenfeld v. Paul Kendrick?

2013/02/07/news/portland/nonprofit-that-raises-money-for-haiti-orphanages-school-sues-freeport-man-over-abuse-allegations/

For 12 years, Kendrick has been labeled as an enemy of the church by the Catholic bishop of Maine.

In December 2008, Kendrick, an outspoken advocate for victims/survivors of child sexual abuse, received a canonical edict from Bishop Richard Malone in which Kendrick was threatened with not being allowed to participate in the “sacramental life of the church.”

http://www.pressherald.com/archive/church-critic-told-to-keep-his-distance_2008-12-29.html

Nine months later, in September 2009, Judge Woodcock said it was an “honor” to be invited by Bishop Richard Malone to speak at the Catholic Church’s annual Red Mass.

The fact that Judge Woodcock considered it an “honor” to speak at an event hosted by an institution that has committed and covered up more felony sex crimes against children than any other organization in the history of the world is very troubling.

Kendrick has publicly criticized members of the legal profession for paying blind deference to the Catholic bishop by attending the Red Mass.

Instead, those invited to the Red Mass should have spoken out on behalf of child sexual abuse victims by demanding truth, justice and accountability from the bishop.

“Woodcock, who will speak about the history of the Establishment Clause, said Monday that being asked to speak after the Mass was an honor. ”

The PROTECT Act of 2003
This bill makes clear there is no statute of limitations for crimes involving the abduction or physical or sexual abuse of a child, in virtually all cases. Under previous law, the statute of limitations expired when the child turned 25, potentially allowing child rapists to go free if law enforcement could not solve the crime in time.

Under current law, defendants who commit crimes against children are often released on bail. The bill makes it more difficult for defendants accused of serious crimes against children to obtain bail. This is similar to other existing provisions for some drug, firearms, and violent crimes.

The bill strengthens laws punishing offenders who travel abroad to prey on children (“sex tourism”).
